Art – An outward manifestation of our imagination
Art has been a major part of many people’s lives since the dawn of time being used by many people around the globe as a valuable source of recreation. It has also served as a medium to capture great moments and express feelings and interestingly enough has been used as an aid in the elicitation of stories.
The term ‘art’ is derived from the Latin term ‘ars’ which connotes beauty and means ‘skill method’ or ‘technique’. Although it provides a good explaination to what the term art means, it’s meaning has evolved over the years leaving the topic of what actually constitutes art as an open debate.
The Artist -Curious, Creative, Imaginative
An artist’s imaginative fuse is often lit by a gripping sense of curiosity about the world around him. In it’s silent stand, a painting often speaks louder than words to the eyes that peer at it. The choreographed sequence of movement in dance serves to communicate meaning and symbolism. The altering of sound and silence in music creates a symphony of sorts calling out to the soul. With that said, all art forms fundamentally serve to express emotion and a sense of meaning. It’s interpretation is always open and it’s message provokes thought in many.
Whilst the role of an artist is quite clearly to celebrate and commemorate cultural events and the beauty of the environment, the true identity of an ‘artist’ is often blurred and has been a topic of much discussion over the years. With that being said, it is evident that the likes of da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh, Fred Astaire, Anna Pavlova, Queen, The Beatles amongst many other celebrated artists have served to fuel both creativity as well as innovation in our modern world. Their works have been remixed time and time again and their techniques replicated and improved as the years have rolled by.
